What is really old school?

Many of us have heard/used the terms ‘old school’ and ‘new school’.

For many things like music, technology, fashion and things that are so dynamic the terms are relevant. But when it comes to things like Christian living, hard work, sex and other fundamental issues, the terms don’t have a place.

There are no ‘modern’ rules for Christian living, the Bible hasn’t changes and it won’t because God is the unchanging changer. God still expects the same of Christians.
Sleeping around is almost a religion in Hollywood and it is still not right/acceptable. It was wrong in the past and it’s wrong now. Talking back at parents wasn’t acceptable in the past and it’s still not acceptable now. Hard work was encouraged in the past and it still is now. Being decent or not using foul language is encouraged now as it was in the past.

But where people are faced with doing things that are not right, they do it saying it’s the modern thing to do.

Don’t let anyone push you saying it’s old school.

Loving others for who they are

There are so many people on earth and all have different backgrounds, cultures and experiences.

Everyone is unique and if you’ve made a picture of what everyone should be like you’ll be greatly disappointed and often so.

You have to tolerate others, accept them for who they are and love them. If you think there’s nothing about you that irritates others you’re deceiving yourself.

Allow everyone to be their genuine selves around you. I’m not saying you should tolerate evil or things that will destroy you, but differences like taste in music, movies or opinions that don’t meet shouldn’t be a cause for not accepting others.

Embrace difference and get blessed by the uniqueness of every individual!!

Respecting the opinions of others

There are so many people in the world right now and every one of them is unique. Everyone was raised by unique parents or guardians in a different way in a different culture and all these unique people have gone through different things in their lives and all these different experiences have made them who they are. And your own experiences make you too.
There’s no reason to be upset when others don’t see things the same way you do, the best you can do is to try and explain yourself as well as possible, and where consequences will follow, you can only pray.
Imposing you own opinion is never a good move and it will never end well. It’s better to have others get the same conviction you have about a matter rather than forcing them.
If you have a habit of forcing others to agree with you, you’ll not be able to receive wisdom from the people around you and you need so much wisdom no matter how wise you consider yourself. Listen to others and consider their ideas/thoughts and make whatever decision you think is best.
Never think there’s no need to listen to others.
